Heaven!

What is heaven like? Have you ever thought about it. In this sermon I talk about the "New Heaven and the New Earth" as described in the Bible. At times I feel we get lost in what heaven is like, we think of it as a place where we will be worshiping God so much that we will be board. Do nothing but to worship him? That's what it seems like.  Yahoo Answers tells us...

Yet in truth the Bible tells us much more.    In this sermon you will see where I ask several questions and let the congregation answer them.    Some questions are tricky and others are very simple.   Yet all of them are to allow us to learn more about what is in store for us.

The week before my sermon I took the opportunity to ask our church a question of what their house will look like on the new earth.   I have provided there response in a PDF below.

Are You Ready?

Are you ready for the Second Coming?

In this sermon "Are You Ready?" we will explore what we really need to be ready for.    Most people think that the coming as a "thief in the night" refers to after all the great earthquakes, calamities.  But as we explore the Bible and the story of the wise and foolish virgins.   We learn that it's not as much that we don't know when the "second coming is" but when do we need to be ready by.   We need to be ready before any of these earthquakes, calamities, etc.

Enjoy the story of a bird that saved over 200 men that were trapped in WWI.     A carrier pigeon that practically gave it's life to deliver a very important message....

Teach us to pray.

Teach Us To Pray!    Have you ever thought about it like that?    Have you ever thought about what power there is in prayer?

Prayer is more than just a need request.   It's power.   It's a power that God has provided to us, so we can have an open form of communication with him.

Now as you listen to this sermon I would like for you to take a new stand on prayer.   Don't pray and be in question if God is ever going to answer it.   Pray knowing that God is going to answer your prayer.   Have the faith, and know that God is truly listening to everything you are saying to him while you are praying.

Also pray to him anytime for any reason.    Prayer can be a request of need, and/or a prayer of joy!    Prayer is for healing, and prayer is for one another....

James 5
13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Go for Gold

Gold, what do you all think of when you hear the word?    Some think of Jewels, some think of Coins.   Some think of a metal such as the Olympics.

Come with me, on a journey that God has laid out for us.  So that we can have a goal in our life of pure gold.

At times we may get discouraged, wondering why are we praising, singing, worshiping God for?  What is the point?   As you will see, God has taken care of it for us.

Come with me on a trip to find the goal of Gold!

Is God Omnipotent?

Have you ever heard or asked the question...

If God is all powerful, then can He create a rock so heavy that He Himself can't lift it?

This question has been asked by atheists over the years and still today. Many people feel the question proves that God can't exist simply because they feel it can't be answered.

But the truth of the matter is it can be answered if we read our Bible. It clearly shows what God's powers are, and His limits.

While working on this sermon.  I found a Yahoo answer web page that had this question on it.  I was ashamed at the answers that were given.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080429175435AAErlAD

As we start to digging into the Bible.  We see that there are two key teachings that this question hinges on.

1. God's Law stands forever
Psalm 111:7-8

The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure. They stand fast forever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness.

2. God cannot sin
I John 3:4

Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.

Basically it comes down to the fact that if God creates a law.  That law stands forever. He can not go back on his law. Just like the law that when man sins he dies. God could not go back on His law, and end it when Adam and Eve sinned. He had to provide His only Son, Jesus Christ, to come to this world, and die.  So his followers can be saved.

To sum it all up.  If God, created a rock with the intent that He could never lift it.  Then God could not lift it. That rock could be as small as a grain of sand.

To answer the question:
Can God create a rock so heavy that he can't lift it?
Answer:
YES - Simply because he is an all powerful God, no one else can!

I recommend you listen to the sermon to get a full understanding of  this message.

Jesus Take the Wheel

This morning before I started to preach, I asked one of our youth to come up front, and sing for us the song. "Jesus Take the Wheel" by Carrie Underwood.

I highly recommend you listen to it before you listen to my sermon.

This sermon talks about one's true faith in Christ. Even though most Christians, believe they are saved by faith and that's all there is to it. Unfortunately we stop there and don't continue on in our faith relationship, thru a closer walk with Christ.

God wants us to have a true faith in him. As is shown in Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

We could simply put this text off as nothing more than believing in Christ even if we don't see him. But it truly goes beyond that. Faith is much like falling off a cliff.  There is no possible way for one to survive. Yet somehow we have survived. But maybe I am being too drastic with my point ... Let us look at it this way.  We have no money to buy food for our family, yet somehow, food appears out of nowhere.

Let's take this to the next step. What are we trying to do when we pray to God?  We humans tend to tell God how to solve our problems in our prayers. For example. Lord help me get a raise so I can have money to buy food for my Children. When we should be praying... Lord, somehow provide the food needed for my family. If money is the answer then He will provide.  But, just maybe there is another answer (not money) that God knows is better for us.

As you listen to my sermon.  I hope the Bible will open up an understanding of this true faith that I have found.  How God is showing to us a relationship that is more than just a belief in Him.   It is truly having faith in Him.
